Request for edit in getting started page

I would like to replace it with something a little more noob/beginner friendly. Review http://www.webos-internals.org/wiki/Portal:_Where_to_Get_Started --Imop45 15:44, 24 July 2009 (UTC)

Sidebar cleanup

Hey. Templarian ok'd the sidebar cleanup. If you want to find it in the IRC logs:
[2009-07-23 19:16:39] <Templarian> X1011: looks fine.

On second thought, lets not rename the linux and webos portals. --Templarian 17:30, 24 July 2009 (UTC)

Why? The names are inappropriate and too long. —X1011 21:35, 24 July 2009 (UTC)

They would be to generic. --Templarian 13:24, 27 July 2009 (UTC)

Combining portals

On the left side-bar of the page, can we remove "Research & Reference" and combine it with "Development Tools"? Otherwise, we have a page with barely any links (the former) and it makes the left side-bar more cluttered. Also, Research isn't even on the front page.

I have already proposed a cleanup to the sidebar; see MediaWiki talk:Sidebar. My view is that each logically separate category should have its own page. How would people know to find research in the tools page? Don't worry about lack of content for now; this wiki is still new.

We'll have to see about putting research on the main page. It will need an icon. Perhaps start a discussion on talk:Main Page.

You may move this section to MediaWiki talk:Sidebar.
